An Indian-origin commercial pilot from Kerala was killed in a tragic helicopter crash in the United States shortly after his wedding, while his bride survived with injuries.
Dave Fiji, 26, a pilot associated with Delta Air Lines, married Jesni in a ceremony attended by around 400 guests at The Revere venue in Dawsonville, Georgia.
The couple, who had known each other for nearly a decade through church connections, planned to begin their honeymoon immediately after the wedding celebrations.
Following the reception, the newlyweds boarded a Robinson R66 helicopter for a special departure.
Family members said Dave had expressed concerns about poor visibility due to fog and adverse weather conditions before take-off.
However, the helicopter took off and crashed into a densely wooded area near the wedding venue within minutes.
Dave Fiji and helicopter pilot Nikhil Nargundkar died in the accident.
Jesni, who sustained injuries in the crash, was rescued and admitted to a hospital.
Her condition is reported to be stable and she is expected to recover.
The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
Preliminary reports indicate that weather conditions may have been a contributing factor, though officials have not yet reached any conclusions.
