Indian woman murdered in US, ex-boyfriend arrested in Tamilnadu

In a major breakthrough, an Indian national accused of murdering his former girlfriend in the United States has been arrested in Tamil Nadu following an international manhunt involving Interpol.
The victim has been identified as Nikita Kodishala, 27, a data analyst working in Frederick city in the US state of Maryland. She was found murdered with multiple stab wounds.
Investigations revealed that Nikita’s ex-boyfriend, Arjun Sharma, 26, was responsible for the crime. On December 31, Arjun allegedly filed a false complaint with local police in the US claiming that Nikita was missing and fled to India soon after to evade suspicion. During the probe, US police discovered Nikita’s body in Arjun Sharma’s apartment on January 3. Preliminary findings indicated that she had been brutally assaulted and stabbed multiple times.
Following the discovery, US authorities sought the assistance of Interpol. Acting on the alert, Interpol and Indian law enforcement agencies traced Arjun Sharma to Tamil Nadu, where he had been hiding, and arrested him.
Officials said the extradition process to send the accused back to the United States is currently under way.
