IndiGo thanks TN government for cutting aviation fuel VAT

IndiGo has thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay after the State Government announced a reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) from 29 per cent to 16 per cent.
The tax reduction will come into effect on November 1, 2026, and remain in force until October 31, 2027, according to the announcement.
Welcoming the decision, IndiGo said in a post on its X account that it appreciated the State Government’s move to reduce VAT on aviation fuel and thanked Chief Minister Vijay for the initiative.
The airline said such measures would strengthen air connectivity and support tourism and economic growth in Tamil Nadu.
It also expressed hope that progressive initiatives of this nature would make air travel more accessible to passengers.
