The Department of Chemistry, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, organised a two-day International Conference on “Advanced Materials for Sustainable Technologies – ICAMST 2026” on January 8 and 9.
The conference began with a welcome address by College Secretary N. Yesodha Devi. The inaugural address was delivered by S. Nagarajan, Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, who highlighted the growing importance of sustainable electronic technologies in modern research and development. He also released the conference souvenir. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by P. Amutha, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.
The conference featured lectures by eminent national and international experts, including Balamurugan Jayaraman, Associate Professor, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Republic of Korea; S. Manivannan, Professor, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli; Banu Marimuthu, Scientist, CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory, Pune; Hirofumi Tanaka, Director, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan; Arti Vashit, Assistant Professor, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Miami, Florida; S. Gokulnath, Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram; and Kshitij R.B. Singh, Research Centre for Neuromorphic AI Hardware, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Kitakyushu, Japan. The valedictory session commenced with the introduction of the chief speaker, R. Prakash, Scientist ‘F’ and Head, Centre for Automotive Energy Materials, ARCI, Chennai, by D. Nalini, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry.
The conference covered key themes such as sustainable organic electronics, advanced functional materials, materials engineering, catalysis and inorganic materials, immunology and nanomedicine, materials science with artificial intelligence, and energy storage technologies and applications.
Around 250 participants from reputed institutions across India attended the conference and benefitted from extensive technical discussions and interactions with the resource persons. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by P. Amutha, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Society Secretary.
