Internship Orientation Programme at KCLAS in Partnership with District Collectorate

The Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS), in collaboration with the Coimbatore District Collectorate, organized the Internship Orientation cum Selection Programme – 2025 under the District Collector’s Internship Programme 2025–2026. The initiative is aimed at connecting academic learning with administrative practice, offering students direct exposure to governance and public service.

The programme commenced with opening remarks by Thirumathi Niraimathi R, Personal Assistant to the District Collector, who welcomed dignitaries and students. She praised the leadership of the District Collector and encouraged participants to learn with commitment.

In the welcome address, Dr. N. Balu, Deputy Dean (Government Industry Initiative), spoke about the growth of the internship programme, which has been successfully conducted in 2023, 2024, and now 2025. He stated that 1,243 applications were received from various institutions, of which 125 students were shortlisted. From this group, 50 will be selected for the final internship. He emphasized that the initiative, guided by the District Collector, fosters creativity, innovation, and administrative knowledge among youth.

Delivering the special address, Mr. Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, District Collector of Coimbatore, shared his inspiring journey as a 2016-batch IAS officer from Karnataka and alumnus of PES University, Bengaluru. He explained that the internship was designed to give students insights into grievance redressal, departmental functions, and citizen engagement. While only 50 candidates can be accommodated due to logistics, he reminded students that the spirit of service extends beyond this programme.

Ms. Pragadeeshwari, a third-year BBA International Business student, shared her experience interning with the Revenue Administration Department during 2023–2024, recalling her role in managing citizen petitions. Quoting Thiruvalluvar, she stressed the value of persistence.

The session concluded with Dr. Ragupathi, Director – Strategic Planning and Review, presenting mementoes to the District Collector and his PA. Dr. Deepesh, Principal of KCLAS, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating contributions from Dr. N. Balu, Dr. Arivazhagan G, and Ms. Anithakumari.
