Srivilliputhur, Sep. 19: Kalasalingam University celebrated the 101st birth anniversary of its Founder Chairman, Kalvi Vallal T. Kalasalingam, with grandeur on Friday. The event was presided over by Chancellor Dr. K. Sridharan.

Addressing the gathering, the Chancellor said, “The Founder’s dream is gradually becoming a reality as the University has secured the 28th position in the NIRF ranking. With the collective efforts of professors, staff, and students, we can aim for a place in the top ten.”
Pro-Chancellor Dr. Arivazagi Sridharan, Vice-Presidents Dr. S. Shasi Anand and S. Arjun Kalasalingam, Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. Narayanan, and Registrar Dr. V. Vasudevan graced the occasion. Director of Students’ Affairs Dr. S.P. Balakannan delivered the welcome address.
Recalling the life of the Founder, Vice-President Dr. Shasi Anand spoke about his humble beginnings in Chennai, working at the post office before venturing into construction and later establishing the Kalasalingam group of institutions. “The Founder treated everyone equally and believed that every task is equally challenging,” he noted.
As part of the celebration, the Chancellor distributed medals and certificates to 284 students who secured the top three ranks in semester examinations across departments. Research incentive cash awards worth ₹33 lakh were also presented to 169 faculty members for their contributions.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pallikonda Rajasekharan. Faculty members, students, and parents took part in the function, which also featured cultural performances including dance, paratha nattiyam, poetry recitation, and drawing.
