Kanimozhi takes government school students to Keezhadi Museum

DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi on Sunday took 219 students studying in government schools in Thoothukudi district on an educational visit to the Keezhadi Archaeological Museum and excavation site in Sivaganga district, with the objective of familiarising them with Tamil Nadu’s ancient history and civilisation.
The students were taken around the Keezhadi excavation site and museum, where several artefacts unearthed during different phases of excavation are displayed.
Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu also took part in the visit. Keezhadi Excavation Project Director S. Ramesh and Joint Director Ajay Kumar welcomed the students and officials and briefed them on the significance of the discoveries made at the
site.

Kanimozhi, along with the students, closely observed the archaeological exhibits that highlight the lifestyle, urban settlement patterns, trade practices, writing traditions and technological advancements of ancient Tamils.
Addressing the students, Thangam Thennarasu explained how the Keezhadi excavations had scientifically established the antiquity of Tamil civilisation and its rich cultural and literary traditions dating back more than 2,000 years.
Later, speaking to reporters, Kanimozhi said that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had created opportunities for students to learn about the history, civilisation and written Tamil language of ancient times through initiatives such as the Keezhadi Museum.
She said such educational visits would help students gain a deeper understanding of Tamil heritage and foster pride in their cultural roots.
Kanimozhi also criticised the Union government over the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, alleging that since the BJP came to power at the Centre, rural workers were being provided far fewer workdays than the mandated 100 days, affecting the rural economy.
Referring to former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Kanimozhi said he was known for merely pasting name boards on projects, adding that while the Chief Minister remained focused on governance, other party leaders were ready to respond to such claims.
