Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Thursday unveiled a statue of Karl Marx at the Connemara Public Library and Museum complex in Egmore.
The statue was installed at a cost of ₹85 lakh following an announcement made by the Chief Minister in the Tamil Nadu Assembly last year under Act No. 110. The unveiling marks a key addition to the historic library complex, highlighting the influence of Marxist thought on social and political movements.
After inaugurating the statue at the Connemara Public Library, the Chief Minister also visited a special photo exhibition on Karl Marx organised at the venue.
Addressing the gathering, Stalin raised slogans hailing Karl Marx in the presence of alliance party leaders. Leaders including Selvapperundhakai, Vaiko, and Veerapandian attended the event.
Ministers M. Subramanian and P. K. Sekarbabu, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, and several senior party functionaries were also present at the function.
