Karnataka Government Invites Vijay for Mysuru Dasara

The Karnataka Government has invited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to attend the Mysuru Dasara celebrations as a special guest, according to reports.
The world-famous Mysuru Dasara festival is scheduled to begin on October 11 and conclude on October 21. The Karnataka Government is making arrangements for the annual celebrations.
Reports said chief ministers of southern States, including Vijay, have been invited to attend the inaugural and concluding events of the festival.
As part of the Dasara celebrations, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar has also discussed with officials the possibility of organising an air show. He has said the proposal would be discussed with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The invitation comes against the backdrop of differences between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the Mekedatu dam project. Vijay had earlier planned to visit Bengaluru for discussions on the issue, but the proposed visit was not held amid protests in Karnataka over the project.
Shivakumar later participated in the meeting of southern State Chief Ministers held at Mamallapuram under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
