KEC receives Rs 54 lakh grant

Dr.K.Gomathi, Senior Associate Professor, Department of Mechatronics Engineering, of Kongu Engineering College (KEC) has received a research grant of Rs 27 lakh from the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) under the University Research Park (URP) Scheme and Rs 27 lakh from Freezton Technologies, Coimbatore for a project titled “Evaluating Natural Carbon Dioxide as a Sustainable Replacement for Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) in Cold Room Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems for Food Industries.
The grant was formally presented by the Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, during the TN Rising Program held on Nov 25 at Hotel Le Méridien, Coimbatore.
The project will be carried out in collaboration with Freezton Technologies, Coimbatore as an industry partner. Total project cost is Rs 54 lakh. The research aims to design, test, and validate an eco-friendly CO₂-based refrigeration system that can serve as a sustainable and energy efficient alternative for the food processing and cold storage
industries.
