Swift police action led to the safe rescue of a 4-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Gudiyatham, Vellore district, earlier today.
According to police sources, Venu, a resident of Pavala Street in Gudiyatham, had returned home on his bike after picking up his children from school. While he dropped his daughter at the doorstep and went inside with another bike, a group of unidentified men arrived in a car and abducted his young son. When Venu attempted to intervene, the kidnappers allegedly threw chilli powder in his face before fleeing with the child.
The shocking incident, captured on nearby CCTV cameras, quickly went viral. Venu lodged a complaint with the local police, who registered a case and launched a search for the abductors. Investigators identified that the getaway vehicle carried a Karnataka registration number.
Acting on leads, police traced the boy to Devikapuram, near Madanur in Tirupattur district, and rescued him unharmed. He was later reunited with his parents, bringing relief to the family and residents of the area.
Multiple teams are now on the lookout for the kidnappers. Senior officials said the investigation is underway to establish the motive behind the abduction and to apprehend those involved.
The incident has sent shockwaves across Gudiyatham, but the timely intervention of the police has averted a tragedy.
