A one-and-a-half-year-old girl who was abducted while sleeping with her parents under a flyover near Chithode was rescued by the Special Task Force police in Namakkal after 25 days on Monday.
Venkatesh and Keerthana are a couple from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
Their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter is Vandana. The couple lives with relatives under the Salem-Coimbatore National Highway flyover in Lakshmi Nagar, Konavaikkal section of Chithode and runs a broom business.
Vandana, who was sleeping with her parents on the night of October 15, went missing. When the Chithode police registered a case and investigated on the complaint, it was revealed through the surveillance camera that the mother-in-law had taken the child away in the middle of the night.
Following this, the police formed 7 special teams under the leadership of Erode District Additional Superintendent of Police Thangavel and Bhavani DSP Rathinakumar and conducted an intensive investigation. In this situation, the special team police received information on Monday that the kidnapped child had been sold to a couple of
Namakkal.
Following this, the police rushed to Namakkal and rescued the child. In this regard, investigation is being conducted with Ramesh of Kodumudi.
