Kovai Medical Center and Hospital hosted a high-level pre-conference workshop on digital healthcare at a private hotel in Coimbatore, setting the stage for the upcoming CAHOCON 2026 conference.
Titled “The New Digital Healthcare: AI, Cyber Security and DPDP,” the workshop focused on key challenges faced by healthcare institutions, including the practical use of artificial intelligence, rising cybersecurity threats, and compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
Executive Director Arun Palaniswami said the initiative aimed to provide actionable insights into integrating AI in healthcare systems, addressing cyber risks, and understanding legal implications under data protection laws.
The event served as a curtain-raiser for the 10th edition of CAHOCON 2026 and the first ISQua Regional Conference for South Asia, scheduled to be held from April 10 to 12 at the Chennai Trade Centre.
The conference, themed “Tech, Touch and Trust – The New Healthcare Code,” is expected to attract over 2,500 delegates, including policymakers and global healthcare leaders.
Organised under the leadership of Nalla G. Palaniswami, the event underscores efforts to promote innovation and quality in healthcare through the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations.
Experts at the workshop highlighted the growing role of AI in clinical practice.
Mathew Cherian spoke on the integration of AI into radiology workflows, while R. Subramaniam explained its application in enhancing precision in cancer treatment. Industry leaders including Karthi Purushothaman and Biju Velayudhan discussed India’s growing role in healthcare AI and the importance of digital tools in patient safety.
Cybersecurity and data protection were also key focus areas, with Arunachalam and Ravi Shankar S addressing the need to safeguard patient data and counter increasing cyber threats. Chairman and Managing Director Nalla G. Palaniswami emphasised that adopting AI is essential for achieving clinical excellence and noted that hosting the workshop in Coimbatore reflects the city’s emergence as a hub for healthcare innovation.
Chief Operating Officer Sivakumaran delivered the welcome address, while Rabeena proposed the vote of thanks.
