KMCH Sulur, Air Force Join Hands to Raise Stroke Awareness

KMCH Sulur Multispecialty Hospital, in association with the Sulur Air Force Station, organized a signature campaign on World Stroke Day to spread awareness about the growing threat of stroke and the importance of timely medical intervention.
The campaign, held at the Sulur Air Force Station yesterday, was inaugurated by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), who presided over the event as the Chief Guest. The initiative aimed to educate the public about stroke symptoms, prevention, and advanced treatment options available at KMCH.
Highlighting the rising health concern, experts noted that stroke has become the fourth leading cause of death and the fifth leading cause of disability in India, with nearly 10% of the global stroke burden reported in the country. Alarmingly, younger individuals are increasingly affected.
KMCH’s advanced stroke unit, equipped with CT and MRI imaging and a 24×7 emergency response system, ensures prompt and effective care during the crucial “golden hour” when treatments like thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy can save lives and reduce long-term disabilities.
Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman and Managing Director of KMCH, said, “Stroke is a public health crisis that demands proactive attention. This campaign reflects our ongoing commitment to preventive healthcare and community awareness.”
Echoing the sentiment, Dr. Arun N. Palaniswami, Executive Director of KMCH, added, “In stroke care, every minute counts. Our dedicated team and comprehensive stroke unit ensure rapid intervention and better patient outcomes.”
