KMDK leader expresses concern over increasing alcohol addiction among youths

KMDK General Secretary and Tiruchengode MLA E.R. Eswaran expressed concern over alcohol addiction among the youth.
Addressing party workers at a meeting organized in Erode to felicitate him, he said that this habit is rampant in the Kongu region. Parents provide their children with a good education, but unfortunately, they do not show much interest in teaching them discipline.
As a result, young people resort to drinking alcohol after they come of age.
He said that his party’s treasurer, K.K.C. Balu, created a Guinness World Record by organizing a Vallikummi dance with 16,000 women at the party conference, thereby preserving the art form.
The party plans to organize the dance with 1 lakh women. The main objective of the Kongu dance is to teach discipline to the youth.
Those who wear anklets for the dance must take a pledge that they will not consume alcohol. Therefore, this dance will instill discipline in the youth.
He said that he has spoken in the assembly more than 138 times on various issues related to the Kongu region, including the problems of Dalits, Mudaliars, Chettiars, and other communities.
In fact, he was the only one who spoke in the assembly about extending the flyovers up to Coimbatore airport and the problems of broiler chicken farmers and power loom weavers.
In fact, because he is in the DMK alliance, other party members also asked him to approach the government to resolve some issues.
He said that others complained in the assembly that the Speaker was giving him more time to speak. To this, the Speaker replied that he (Eswaran) speaks as a representative for the entire Kongu region.
Therefore, his sole objective is to further develop the Kongu region. In the 2001 assembly elections, the party contested independently in more than 70 constituencies and proved its strength by securing 20,000-25,000 votes in many constituencies. If this situation had continued, the party would have had more MLAs in the assembly. But unfortunately, the party functionaries did not favour the party’s alliance politics. There are many stories behind alliance politics.
Everything cannot be revealed publicly. My wish was that at least 5-10 MLAs should enter the assembly with me. But unfortunately, in 2021, only I entered the assembly.
My other regret is that while everyone else relies on him to get certain schemes or projects done by the government, the people of this region do not fully trust me. In fact, the party is firmly working for the development of the Kongu region.
In his speech, Youth Wing Secretary Suriyamoorthy said that to date, no one has raised any corruption charges against Eswaran or party MP Matheswaran.
That is the biggest recognition the party has received. Only after the party’s MP entered the Lok Sabha, the name of freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai was raised in the Lok Sabha.
That too is a great achievement for the party. Eswaran and Matheswaran, together, have done many works for this Kongu region that previous MLAs and MPs had not done.
He further added that their achievements were released as a book at the current meeting.
Party functionaries Eswaramoorthy, Govindaraj, Jaganathan and others also addressed the gathering.
