Prizes were distributed to winners of sports competitions organised as part of the Social Justice Festival and Pongal Festival celebrations at Chandrayan Kuppam in Kottakuppam, near Puducherry, on Sunday.
The town-level Kabaddi and Cricket tournaments in the Vanur Assembly Constituency were inaugurated by Villupuram Central District DMK in-charge and MLA R Lakshmanan, in accordance with the directives of Chief Minister M K Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
The event witnessed the participation of several party functionaries, including State Adi Dravidar Welfare Committee Joint Secretary and former MLA Pushparaj, General Council member and former MLA Marimuthu, Kottakuppam election observer and Minority Wing organiser T M A Thamin, Kottakuppam Municipal Council Chairman and Town DMK Secretary S S Jayamoorthy, District Environment Wing organiser V M R Shiva, Town DMK Treasurer Dakshinamurthy, Medical Wing organiser Vinobharathi, Municipal councillors Veerappan and Stalin Sukumar, and Branch Secretary Selvam.
District-level party administrators, town wing organisers, deputy organisers, ward secretaries and DMK cadres also took part in large numbers.
At the conclusion of the competitions, Municipal Council Chairman S S Jayamoorthy distributed prizes to the winning teams and congratulated the players for their spirited participation. The event drew a large gathering of party workers and local residents.
