Kumaraguru Institutions on Saturday launched the Centre for Public and Competitive Careers, (KCPC) with S. Viswanathan, IAS, Chairperson in-charge of the Chennai Port Authority, asserting that strategic discipline and smart work are the real keys to success in the Civil Services.
Inaugurating the centre, the 2008-batch IAS officer said that cracking competitive examinations such as the UPSC requires focused preparation and effective time management rather than mere talent. Recalling that he secured the 34th All India Rank in the Civil Services Examination, he emphasised the importance of repeated revision and a systematic approach to managing the vast syllabus.
An alumnus returning to his alma mater after 25 years, he noted that the newly launched centre would provide structured mentoring and direction to students aspiring for careers in Civil Services, Defence and national banking sectors. Such institutional support, he said, could help aspirants avoid years of uncertainty in preparation.
Shankar Vanavarayar, President of Kumaraguru Institutions, described KCPC as a mission-oriented platform aimed at producing purpose-driven leaders for India’s next phase of growth. He stressed that civil servants must be guided by integrity and a commitment to public welfare.
Head of KCPC M. Binukrishna said the centre would offer expert guidance and structured coaching support for examinations including UPSC, banking, SSC, GATE and defence services. The event also featured the launch of the KCPC website and exchange of MoUs with reputed coaching academies.
