Kumbakarai waterfalls now open for public

After 40 days, Kumbakkarai falls near Periyakulam in Theni district, received good water inflow.
Following normal flow of water, the Forest Department officials on Wednesday permitted the public inside Kumbakarai waterfalls.
Due to rainfall in Kodaikanal and surrounding areas, water began flowing into Kumbakarai waterfalls after a gap of several months. Access to the waterfalls had been restricted due to a lack of rainfall. After remaining closed for months, the waterfalls saw a surge in water flow following rains in Kodaikanal and surrounding areas. Earlier, Forest Department officials said tourists would be permitted after assessing the water flow remaining steady.
