Life after Life 2026 celebrates organ donors, KMCH inaugurates wall of honour

KMCH honoured organ donors and their families at the “Life After Life 2026” organ donor felicitation programme held at the KMCH Auditorium on August 2 as part of World Organ Donor Appreciation Week.
A leading multi-specialty hospital in Coimbatore, KMCH has been the largest centre for liver, kidney, heart, bone marrow and lung transplantation in Western Tamil Nadu for several years. The hospital continues to perform complex transplant surgeries supported by advanced expertise and infrastructure.
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH, said the hospital was deeply honoured to recognise the sacrifice made by organ donors and their families, whose contributions have given a new lease of life to hundreds of patients.
In his keynote address, Dr. Arun N. Palaniswami, Executive Director, KMCH, said organ donation reflects the highest form of selflessness, transforming personal grief into hope, healing and a second chance at life for many patients and their families.
Chief Guest Dr. K. G. Arunraj, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, inaugurated the Wall of Honour, a permanent memorial dedicated to deceased organ donors. He congratulated KMCH for emerging as the largest centre for liver, kidney and heart transplantation in the region and for its significant contribution to the cadaver organ donor programme over the years.
Dr. A. N. Murugan, Medical Director, KMCH, welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. Baskar, Senior Consultant Neurologist, delivered a presentation on “Life After Life at KMCH”, while Dr. S. Yuvaraj, Consultant Intensivist, presented organ donor data for 2025-26.
More than 300 guests, medical professionals and donor families attended the event. The programme commenced with a tree-planting ceremony and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. D. Arun Kumar, Consultant Anesthesiologist, KMCH.
