Forty-three students of a government middle school near the Kavundampalayam Housing Unit in Coimbatore were admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital after sustaining minor injuries during the midday meal on Tuesday.
The incident occurred when a lizard reportedly fell near the students while they were having lunch at the school, causing panic among the children. Some of the students sustained minor physical injuries in the commotion that followed.
Following the incident, 43 students were taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital, where they received treatment from paediatric specialists under the supervision of senior doctors.
District Collector, Corporation Commissioner and Kavundampalayam MLA visited the hospital and the school to review the treatment being provided and to inquire about the condition of the children.
After receiving medical care and observation, all the students were discharged from the hospital and returned home on Tuesday night.
