Loud mobile phone use in buses to invite strict action

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has instructed its drivers and conductors to strictly enforce government guidelines aimed at preventing inconvenience to passengers caused by loud mobile phone usage during bus journeys.
According to a press release issued by TNSTC Managing Director K. Mohamed Nasser, passengers should avoid using mobile phones in a manner that disturbs fellow travellers. Awareness stickers highlighting the guidelines will be displayed prominently inside all government buses to educate passengers.
As per Rule 5(10) of the Motor Vehicles (Driving) Regulations, 2017, drivers must ensure that loud music is not played inside buses. Further, Rule 228 of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, states that any act causing disturbance or discomfort to co-passengers is considered misconduct.
Passengers have been advised not to speak loudly on mobile phones throughout the journey, use speaker mode for calls, or play music and videos without earphones or headphones. They have been encouraged to use Bluetooth devices, earphones or headphones to ensure that their mobile phone usage does not disturb others.
The Managing Director directed all drivers and conductors to strictly follow these guidelines and ensure that awareness stickers are displayed prominently in every government bus to promote a peaceful and comfortable travel environment for passengers.
