Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh for misbehaving with a female cleaner on the Adyar flyover in Chennai — an incident that was caught on CCTV and has sparked widespread outrage.
According to reports, the accused, identified as Bachu Sai Teja (25), behaved indecently towards a 50-year-old female sanitation worker who was engaged in cleaning duties on the flyover.
Shocked and angered by his actions, the woman confronted him and struck him with her broom in self-defence, forcing him to flee the scene.
The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, was captured on nearby CCTV cameras.
The footage, showing the woman’s courageous reaction, quickly went viral on social media, drawing praise for her bravery and demands for strict police action.
Following a detailed investigation, Adyar police tracked down and arrested Bachu Sai Teja.
He has been booked under relevant sections of the BNS for harassment and indecent behaviour in a public place.
