Massive Protest by DMK alliance parties against SIR in Coimbatore

A massive protest was held in Coimbatore today by the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The SPA — led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) — staged district-level demonstrations across Tamil Nadu, with a large
turnout.
Alliance partners including the Indian National Congress (INC), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) participated in the protest in large numbers
The Coimbatore demonstration, held at Tatabad, was led by V. Senthil Balaji, DMK Western Region In-Charge and former Tamil Nadu Minister.
Prominent leaders including Durai Senthamizh Selvan (DMK Coimbatore City District Secretary), Thondamuthur Ravi, former Minister Pongalur N. Palanisamy, E. R. Eswaran, General Secretary, Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK), Adi Tamilar Peravai leader R. Adhiyaman, and Member of Parliament Ganapathy P. Rajkumar took part in the protest, along with district executives and volunteers from all alliance parties.
The protest witnessed a turnout of over 20,000 people, who raised slogans condemning alleged irregularities in the SIR process and urged the Election Commission to ensure transparency and fairness in the voter roll revision across Tamil Nadu.
