Master Command Centre opened for smart policing in Coimbatore

A state-of-the-art Master Command and Control Centre (MCCC) was inaugurated at the Coimbatore District Police Office to strengthen technology-driven policing, emergency response, crime monitoring and public safety across the district. The integrated facility, established on the fourth floor of the District Police Office, spans nearly 3,000 square feet and will function round the clock as the central operational hub of the Coimbatore District Police. The centre has been equipped with a 26×8-foot central LED video wall and two additional 10×8-foot LED video walls for real-time surveillance and coordinated police operations. Officials said Coimbatore’s rapid industrial, educational, IT and tourism growth, coupled with increasing movement of migrant workers, students and tourists, had created the need for advanced policing systems to maintain law and order effectively.

The command centre integrates multiple surveillance, communication and emergency response systems on a single platform. Live feeds from 28 ANPR cameras and 34 CCTV cameras installed at 13 State border check posts, besides eight ANPR cameras and 26 CCTV cameras at 11 district border check posts, are being monitored continuously. More than 1,500 CCTV cameras installed in Pollachi, Valparai, Anaimalai, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai and Sulur have also been linked to the system. All 40 police stations in the district have been connected with CCTV cameras and two-way communication systems. The MCCC includes specialised desks for smart surveillance, emergency response, cyber crime, women and child safety, disaster management, road safety and social media monitoring. The facility was inaugurated by Superintendent of Police Dr. K. Karthikeyan in the presence of West Zone Inspector General of Police Ramya Bharathi, District Collector Pavan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, Deputy Inspector General of Police P. Saminathan and Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran.
