Maxwell Foundation hosts Ponmagal Festival in Coimbatore

The Maxwell Foundation organised its annual Ponmagal Festival in connection with International Women’s Day at the auditorium of United Arts and Science College, Periyanaickenpalayam, on Monday.
As part of the celebrations, welfare assistance was distributed to over 100 destitute women, students and members of hill communities. Educational assistance of up to Rs. 1 lakh was provided to girl children who had lost both parents. Sewing machines were distributed to women to help them start small businesses, while wheelchairs were given to the differently abled.
School bags and other educational materials were provided to girl students. Thirty women sanitation workers received rice and grocery supplies sufficient for three months. Ponmagal Awards were also presented to women achievers from various fields in recognition of their contributions.
The function was attended by Conservator of Forests Sowmya, College Principal Dr. Vijaya, film actress Kaavya Arivumani, playback singer Rihana, Arunalayam Foundation representative Dr. Aruna, Keerthi Foundation representative Usha Ramesh, Satvik Consultants representative Sivakumar and Maxwell Foundation committee members Jaijalan, Zameer Ahmed, Maheshwari and Sathya, among others.
