Mayor Jagan Periyasamy on Tuesday presided over a public grievance redressal camp held at the East Zone office of the Thoothukudi City Municipal Corporation, where residents presented petitions seeking solutions to civic issues.
After inaugurating the camp, the Mayor personally interacted with members of the public, heard their grievances and received representations related to basic amenities, road conditions, sanitation and other civic concerns.
Addressing the gathering, the Mayor assured residents that pending road works across various parts of the city would resume shortly. He also said that footpaths would be constructed in heavily congested areas to ease pedestrian movement and improve traffic flow. In addition, he announced that Roche Park would soon be taken up for renovation to enhance public recreational facilities.
Several petitions were disposed of on the spot, with the Mayor distributing grievance redressal orders to beneficiaries whose issues were resolved during the camp. The meeting was attended by Corporation Commissioner Priyanka, Deputy Mayor Jenitta Selvaraj, City Health Officer Saroja, and city councillors Sureshkumar, Rexlin, Edinta, Baby Angelin, Maheshwari, Dhanalakshmi and Ramu Ammal.
Officials said such grievance camps would continue to be held regularly to ensure prompt resolution of public complaints and strengthen direct engagement between the civic administration and residents.
