Meesai Rajendran Quits DMDK Joins ADMK Ahead Of Polls

In a setback to the DMDK ahead of the Assembly elections, actor and party spokesperson Meesai Rajendran has resigned from the party and joined the AIADMK.
A long-time associate of late DMDK founder Vijayakanth, Rajendran had been with the party since its inception and served as one of its prominent voices. Known for his roles as a villain and character artist in Tamil cinema, he credited Vijayakanth for his entry into films and remained a loyal supporter for over three decades.
Rajendran, who held the post of party spokesperson and had also contested in previous elections, expressed disappointment over being sidelined after Vijayakanth’s demise. He was reportedly denied an opportunity to contest in the upcoming elections, leading to dissatisfaction.
In his resignation letter addressed to DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth, he stated that his long-standing loyalty and hard work were not duly recognised. Calling his decision a painful one, he said he was compelled to leave the party.
Soon after quitting, Rajendran met AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and formally joined the party.
