A training programme for micro observers in view of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly General Elections 2026 was conducted at the Coimbatore District Collectorate on April 9 under the chairmanship of District Election Officer and District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar.
Municipal Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran and several election officials, including designated micro observers, participated in the session.
The training focused on polling day responsibilities, including operation of Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail systems, conduct of mock polls, adherence to Election Commission guidelines, and submission of reports.
Polling personnel were also provided practical guidance on monitoring mock polls, ensuring proper functioning of EVMs and VVPATs, and strictly verifying voter identity before the commencement of voting.
The initiative forms part of the district administration’s efforts to ensure smooth, free and transparent conduct of the upcoming Assembly elections.
