Minister conducts surprise inspection at Govt girls’ hostel

Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Sampathkumar, along with Erode District Collector Kandasamy, inspected the Government Backward Classes College Girls’ Hostel located in Kumilamparappu near Chithode on Thursday.
During the inspection, the Minister examined whether quality food was being provided to the boarders in accordance with the prescribed government menu. He assessed the prevailing hygiene conditions, lighting infrastructure, kitchen maintenance, study rooms, drinking water, and sanitation facilities. He also verified the functionality of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, availability of sports equipment, first-aid boxes, and complaint boxes within the hostel premises.
Interacting directly with the resident students, the Minister inquired about their academic environment and elicited feedback regarding additional amenities required at the facility.
Addressing the hostel authorities, Mr. Sampathkumar instructed staff to maintain pristine hygiene standards across the premises. He mandated that first-aid kits be regularly audited and stocked with unexpired essential medications, and directed officials to ensure immediate redressal of grievances dropped in the complaint box.
Erode Tahsildar Kavitha and officials from various line departments were present during the inspection.
