Minister E.V. Velu Presents Certificates to Chief Minister’s Trophy Winners in Tiruvannamalai

A ceremony to honour the winners of the Chief Minister’s Trophy sports competitions for 2025–2026 was held today at the Tiruvannamalai District Indoor Sports Stadium.

The event was presided over by E. V. Velu, Minister for Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports, who presented certificates of appreciation and prizes to the winners.

The ceremony was attended by K. Pitchandi, Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, K. Tharpagaraj, IAS, District Collector of Tiruvannamalai, C. N. Annadurai, Member of Parliament, and M. P. Giri, Member of Legislative Assembly.

The competitions were conducted in Tiruvannamalai district from August 2025 to September 6, 2025, across categories such as school students, college students, government employees, the general public, and the differently abled. Out of 1,31,000 registrations, 32,620 participated and 2,118 emerged winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Velu said:

“Under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, several schemes are being implemented to promote sports. Mini stadiums are being established in all 234 constituencies. Sportspersons are also being provided employment quota, incentives, and financial assistance. Sports are the best way to develop physical health, equality, and rational thinking.”

Later, prizes and certificates of appreciation were distributed, with Rs 3,000 for first place,  Rs 2,000 for second place, and Rs 1,000 for third place winners.

Assistant Collector (Training) Amrutha S. Kumar, District Principal Education Officer Swamimuthalagan, District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer Shanmugapriya, and Corporation Commissioner Selvabalaji were among those present.
