Minister Nirmal Kumar calls on DMK Chief M.K. Stalin to quit politics

Minister Nirmal Kumar has called on DMK president M.K. Stalin to quit politics, making a series of allegations against the previous DMK government while addressing reporters in Chennai on Monday.
The Minister inaugurated 82 new power outage complaint centres serving Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts. He also launched more than 60 vehicles to facilitate the swift resolution of electricity-related complaints.
Speaking to reporters, Nirmal Kumar alleged that a nationwide power shortage exceeding 40,000 MW had increased electricity procurement costs. He criticised the Centre’s forecasting and planning, claiming that the shortfall had resulted in additional expenditure.
The Minister also accused the previous DMK government of failing to act adequately on crimes against minor girls and questioned its handling of the Kodanad case. He levelled allegations concerning school fire-safety regulations and alleged collections through intermediaries, without providing supporting evidence during the reported remarks.
Nirmal Kumar further questioned whether the previous government had made sufficient efforts to identify those responsible for the murder of K.N. Nehru’s brother.
Referring to the disappearance of a child in Gingee, he said police personnel had been conducting an intensive search for the past 10 days and were investigating the case from multiple angles.
He claimed that the present government was registering cases promptly and taking action on criminal incidents. Nirmal Kumar said the ongoing investigation into the missing child reflected the seriousness with which the authorities were treating the case.
