Hindu Religious and Endowments Department officials yesterday evening planted boundary stones on the land adjacent to the National Highway and put up a board stating that a 30 acre land of ancient Vijayapuri Amman temple located in Vijayamangalam next to Perundurai belongs to the department.
Protesting against such action, the MLA and many others staged road roko.
After receiving information, Perundurai DSP Vasantharajan, Taluk tahsildar Jagan, Hindu Religious and Endowments Department Executive Officer Thanalakshmi, and Police Inspector Balamurugan held talks with them.
At the end of the talks, the officials agreed to remove the stones planted by the Department and also remove the billboard that was placed. Following this, the road picket was abandoned.
