An emotional incident was witnessed in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district after a monkey was seen mourning the death of an 80-year-old woman, Parvathamma, in PV Halli village of Channapatna taluk.
Parvathamma, known locally for feeding animals, had developed a unique bond with a monkey that had been visiting her house regularly for the past few months. She would feed the animal, which in turn spent time with her daily before leaving in the evening.
The elderly woman died on Tuesday due to age-related illness. When the monkey arrived at her house as usual, it appeared distressed on seeing her lifeless body.
According to locals, the monkey hugged Parvathamma’s body and stayed beside her, seemingly paying its last respects. The poignant scene drew attention from villagers who had gathered for the funeral.
The monkey reportedly remained at the spot until the body was taken for burial. Later, it was safely captured by locals and released into a nearby forest area, they
said.
