A heart-wrenching incident has rocked Shivamogga district of Karnataka, where a woman allegedly killed her 12-year-old daughter before taking her own life early this morning.
According to police sources, the deceased have been identified as Shruti (38) and her daughter Poorvika (12). Shruti’s husband, Ramana Nayak, works as a lab technician at the Government McGann Hospital in Shivamogga.
After completing his night duty, Ramana returned home this morning but found the door locked from inside. Despite repeated attempts to ring the bell and call his wife and daughter, there was no response.
Growing suspicious, Ramana sought help from neighbours to break open the door. To his horror, he discovered his daughter lying dead in a pool of blood and his wife hanging from the ceiling in another room.
Police from Doddapete Police Station rushed to the scene, recovered both bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination at McGann Hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Shruti, who had reportedly been undergoing treatment for mental health issues for the past few months, may have beaten her daughter to death before committing suicide.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact reason behind the tragic incident.
