Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law killed in car crash near Chinnasalem

Two women were killed in a car accident near Chinnasalem in Kallakurichi district after the vehicle skidded off the road and crashed into a tree on Saturday morning.
Police said Venkatesh was travelling from Chennai to Coimbatore with his family.
His wife Upasana (28), who was driving the car, and his mother Usha (72) died on the spot in the accident.
The mishap occurred near Dattathiripuram when the car reportedly lost control, fell into a roadside ditch and rammed into a tree.
Venkatesh, along with two children and a relative, Sivakumar (55), sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the Chinnasalem Government Hospital and later referred to the Kallakurichi Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
