In a rare gesture of familial bonding, a mother-in-law donated her kidney to save the life of her ailing daughter-in-law in Karnataka’s Yadagiri district.
Chandabai, a resident of Malur village in Surpur taluk, decided to donate her kidney after her daughter-in-law Basamma, wife of her son Prakash, was diagnosed with a serious kidney ailment several months ago. Despite efforts, no suitable donor had come forward for transplantation.
Moved by the deteriorating health of Basamma, Chandabai volunteered to donate one of her kidneys. Following medical evaluation and compatibility tests, doctors performed the transplant surgery successfully.
Hospital sources said both the donor and recipient are recovering well and are in stable condition.
The selfless act has drawn widespread appreciation in the region, with many hailing Chandabai’s decision as a powerful example of compassion and family unity.
