In a disturbing incident from Uttar Pradesh, a six-month-old baby boy who was allegedly sold by his own mother for Rs 95,000 was rescued by the police within 24 hours of a complaint being lodged.
The incident occurred in Harana village of Kaushambi district. Brijesh Kumar, a resident of the village, alleged that his wife Mamta Devi had sold their six-month-old son to a woman named Anitha two days ago for Rs 95,000.
Shocked by the act, Brijesh Kumar approached the police and lodged a complaint accusing his wife of selling their child. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Within 24 hours, the police traced the baby and successfully rescued him. Mamta Devi, the middleman who facilitated the illegal sale, and Anitha, who allegedly bought the child, were arrested in connection with the case.
Police officials said further investigation is under way to determine whether the accused were part of a larger child trafficking network. The rescued child has been placed under safe care, and necessary legal procedures are being followed.
