National Seminar on Innovative Dairy Practices at PSGR Krishnammal College

A National Seminar on Innovative Dairy Practices was held today at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, organized by the Department of Food Processing Technology and Management in collaboration with the Indian Dairy Association – Tamil Nadu Chapter.

The seminar, themed “Innovative Dairy Practices: Harmonizing Tradition with Sustainable Future Solutions,” brought together nearly 200 participants from academia, research, and the dairy industry.

The programme opened with a welcome address by Dr. N. Deepa Sathish, HoD of FPTM. Dr. Ramesh Subramani, Dean (Research), delivered the inaugural address, followed by a presidential address from Shri. Charles Cephas Prince, former State Director (Southern Region), National Dairy Development Board. Shri. K. S. Kanna, Chairman, IDA-TN Chapter, and Dr. T. Anuradha, Designated Officer, FSSAI-Coimbatore, also addressed the gathering.

During the proceedings, participants took an oath to reduce sugar, fat, and salt consumption, highlighting the seminar’s focus on health-conscious dairy practices.

Technical sessions featured insights from experts: Dr. Paa. Rajeswari of Avinashilingam Institute spoke on sustainable dairy innovations; Shri. K. S. Kanna led an interactive session on next-generation dairy; and Dr. Veena Paul of Karunya Institute presented research on encapsulation of dairy-functional ingredients.

An interactive segment, “Dairy Pro Connect,” was conducted by Er. Dayanand Peter, Executive Committee Member (R&E), IDA-TN Chapter, and Head of Food Processing Technology, Karunya University.

The event also hosted an Ideathon and E-Poster competition, where participants showcased innovative solutions for the dairy sector. Winners were recognized with certificates.

The seminar concluded with a call to integrate traditional dairy wisdom with modern, sustainable innovations, setting the stage for future advancements in the field.
