New audio evidence emerges in rithanya dowry case

A major twist has surfaced in the Rithanya dowry harassment case from Avinashi Kaikatti Puthur in Tiruppur district, as the Madras High Court has ordered a forensic examination of two mobile phones belonging to the deceased.

Rithanya, a newlywed, allegedly died by suicide following dowry-related harassment. Her husband Kavinkumar, father-in-law Eswaramoorthy, and mother-in-law Chithradevi were arrested earlier and later released on conditional bail.

Subsequently, Kavinkumar filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking to trace and examine two mobile phones that belonged to Rithanya. During the hearing held today, his counsel argued that the devices contained audio conversations and chats in which Rithanya had reportedly expressed disinterest in her marriage while speaking to her friends — evidence that could be crucial in establishing the truth.

The police informed the court that they were ready to analyze the mobile phones if they were handed over to the investigating officer.

After hearing both sides, the Madras High Court directed the police to conduct forensic tests on both phones and submit a detailed report.
