Shri S.N. Narain on Wednesday assumed charge as the Chief Public Relations Officer of Southern Railway.
An Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 2010 batch, S.N. Narain was earlier serving as Private Secretary to the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism on deputation.
During his career in Indian Railways, he has handled several key assignments relating to passenger amenities, operational efficiency, digital communication and public interface.
He has served in various capacities in the Operations and Commercial departments across different divisions of Southern Railway.
He also worked as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology in New Delhi.
S.N. Narain had earlier served as Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in Tiruchchirappalli Division, Deputy Chief Operations Manager (Traffic Safety) of Southern Railway, Divisional Commercial Manager in Chennai and Palakkad Divisions and Divisional Operations Manager in Salem Division.
He was also associated with the implementation of several major projects and policy initiatives of Indian Railways.S.N. Narain holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.
He succeeds M. Senthamil Selvan, who has been posted as Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer at Royapuram Loco Shed.
