New Ration Shops Opened in Tiruvannamalai

Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports Minister E.V. Velu today inaugurated two new ration shops in Tiruvannamalai taluk, constructed at a total cost of over Rs. 23 lakhs, to serve the local residents.

A ration shop built at a cost of Rs. 9.85 lakhs in Elikkuthi village and another at Parayampattu village costing Rs. 13.16 lakhs were opened and have started functioning.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Velu said, “The Hon’ble Chief Minister has implemented several welfare schemes under the Dravidian model regime. These include the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam, which provides Rs. 1,000 per month to women, free bus travel for women, and higher education support schemes. Ration shops ensure essential commodities like rice and pulses reach people at affordable prices. With these new shops at Elikkuthi and Parayampattu, the needs of the local people will be met.”

The event was attended by District Collector K. Tharpagaraj, IAS, Tiruvannamalai MP C.N. Annadurai, Rural Development Agency Project Director I. Mani, Cooperative Deputy Registrar Vinoth, District Distribution Officer Sathish Kumar, and senior government officials
