A tragic incident has been reported from Girinagar, Bengaluru, where a 29-year-old bank employee, Sugan Rao, allegedly died by suicide following persistent harassment and domestic disputes with his wife, Meghana Jadhav. The couple had been married for just eight months ago.
According to police, Sugan Rao, who worked at a private bank, had been facing frequent arguments and mental distress at home. Neighbours and family members stated that the couple, who initially appeared happy, had been quarreling frequently over the past few weeks.
Police sources said that an argument broke out between the two on Sunday evening. Deeply upset, Sugan reportedly took the extreme step by hanging himself in the bedroom of his residence later that night.
Family members, upon discovering the incident, immediately alerted the authorities. A team from the Girinagar Police Station arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.
In a complaint filed with the police, Sugan’s sister alleged that Meghana had been mentally harassing and torturing her brother since their marriage and held her responsible for his death. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Meghana Jadhav under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Investigations are currently underway to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances that led to the young man’s death. The heartbreaking incident has left residents of the locality in deep shock and sorrow.
