Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) General Secretary and Rural Development and Water Resources Minister N. Anand has directed party functionaries to avoid banners and cut-outs during Chief Minister Vijay’s birthday celebrations and instead focus on welfare activities for the public.
Chairing a meeting of TVK MLAs, district secretaries and party office-bearers at the party headquarters in Panaiyur on Thursday, Anand reviewed preparations for Vijay’s birthday, which will be celebrated on June 22.
Addressing the gathering, Anand said the Chief Minister had clearly instructed party cadres not to cause any inconvenience to the public during the celebrations.
He urged functionaries to mark the occasion by organising welfare initiatives such as distribution of assistance to the poor, medical camps and annadhanam programmes.
The Minister stressed that the party should completely avoid the banner and cut-out culture.
He noted that despite repeated instructions, banners continued to appear at some party events and warned functionaries against such practices in the future.
“Chief Minister Vijay has made it clear that there should be no banner culture in TVK. Party members must strictly follow this directive and ensure that all celebrations are conducted in a disciplined and people-friendly manner,” Anand said.
Ministers, MLAs, district secretaries and senior party functionaries participated in the meeting and discussed arrangements for the Chief Minister’s first birthday celebration after assuming office.
