One-year-old child dies after eating biscuits, cause under probe

A one-year-old child died under tragic circumstances after reportedly consuming biscuits at Kanchiramkulam near Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram district, triggering shock and grief in the locality.

The deceased child has been identified as Ihaan, son of Shijil and Krishnapriya, residents of the Kanchiramkulam area. On the day of the incident, Shijil had purchased biscuits from a nearby shop and brought them home.

According to family members, Krishnapriya gave the biscuits to the child. Shortly after eating a portion of them, Ihaan suddenly lost consciousness. Alarmed by the situation, the parents rushed the child to the Neyyattinkara Government Hospital for emergency treatment.

However, after examination, doctors declared the child brought dead. The sudden death of the infant has left the parents and relatives devastated and the incident has caused shock among local residents.

Hospital authorities said the exact cause of death cannot be confirmed at this stage. Doctors stated that further details would be known only after a post-mortem examination is conducted.

Police have been informed of the incident and necessary procedures are being followed. The child’s body has been sent for autopsy to determine whether food-related complications or any other medical condition led to the death.

The tragic incident has raised concerns among parents in the area, as authorities await the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause behind the sudden loss of the child.
