Over 39,000 Students to Appear For Class 10 Public Exam in Coimbatore

The Class 10 public examination for the academic year 2025–2026 began on Wednesday with more than 39,000 candidates appearing for the examination in Coimbatore district.
According to officials, a total of 38,390 students from 509 schools, including 18,861 boys and 19,529 girls, are writing the examination. In addition, 1,237 private candidates are also appearing for the exam.
The examinations are being conducted at 159 centres across the district. Authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the examinations.
Question paper bundles have been stored safely at 11 distribution centres under tight security with 22 question paper custodians and armed police guards. Arrangements have also been made to transport the question papers safely to examination centres and return the answer sheets to designated collection centres after the exams.
For the conduct of the examinations, 159 chief superintendents, 159 departmental officers, 2,075 room invigilators, 250 flying squad members and 316 office staff have been appointed.
In addition, following the guidelines of the Directorate of Government Examinations, 946 teachers have been appointed as scribes to assist 946 differently-abled students appearing for the examination.
