A young couple from Pakistan’s Sindh province was arrested after illegally crossing the international border into India through the Ravpar area of Kutch district, Gujarat, following strong opposition from their families to their marriage. According to officials, Bopat Kumar (24) and Gauri (24), both from a border-side village in Sindh, were in love and wanted to get married.
With their parents refusing to accept the relationship, the couple fled their homes on Monday night.
They crossed into Indian territory through the Kutch border, where Border Security Force (BSF) personnel patrolling the area intercepted and detained them.
During questioning, the couple said they entered India seeking to stay together after their families opposed their marriage.
The BSF later handed them over to the local police. Both have been arrested, and further investigation is underway regarding their entry into India.
