Pet dog guards owners’ bodies for four days in snow

In a heart-rending incident highlighting the loyalty of animals, a pet dog stood guard over the bodies of its owners for four days amid heavy snowfall near the Barmani temple in the Parmar area of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh.
Bikshit Rana and his cousin Piyush, residents of the Parmar area, had gone to the snowbound region to shoot a video along with their pet dog, a pitbull-type breed they had raised for several years.
Due to continuous and intense snowfall over the past few days, the two men were trapped in the harsh weather conditions and were unable to escape.
When the duo failed to return, relatives alerted the police, following which search and rescue teams were deployed.
After an extensive operation, the bodies of Bikshit Rana and Piyush were found near the Barmani temple.
Rescuers were deeply moved to find the pet dog standing beside the bodies, refusing to leave them despite extreme cold and snowfall.
The animal had remained there for nearly four days, protecting its owners even after their death. Initially, the dog did not allow the rescue personnel to approach, guarding the bodies with fierce devotion.
After some time, sensing that the rescuers intended no harm and had come to retrieve the bodies, the dog calmed down and cooperated. The emotional scene left rescuers and local residents in tears.
People in the area described the incident as a powerful reminder of the unconditional love and loyalty shown by animals, even beyond death.
