A shocking petrol attack on a farmer over a family dispute was reported near Panruti in Cuddalore district, leaving the victim with severe burn injuries. Police have arrested four persons, including the farmer’s daughter-in-law and her husband, in connection with the incident.
The victim, Rajendran, a farmer, reportedly confronted his daughter-in-law Jayapriya after learning about her alleged relationship with another man. Following the reprimand, Jayapriya, in a fit of rage, allegedly poured petrol on Rajendran and set him ablaze.
Rajendran sustained serious burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Cuddalore Government Medical College Hospital. Despite his critical condition, police recorded his statement at the hospital as part of the investigation.
Based on preliminary inquiry, police arrested Jayapriya, her husband, and two others, including her stepfather. Further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact sequence of events and the role played by each of the accused.
