Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a brief break from his hectic campaign schedule in West Bengal to enjoy Jhalmuri, a popular local street food, during his visit to Jhargram.
On Sunday, Narendra Modi addressed four public meetings across Purulia, Jhargram, Medinipur and Bishnupur. In between engagements, he stopped at a small roadside shop in Jhargram where he tasted the traditional snack.
Sharing the moment on social media, Narendra Modi said that amid a busy day of rallies, he enjoyed delicious Jhalmuri. A video posted along with the message showed him asking the vendor to prepare the snack.
When he offered to pay, the shopkeeper initially declined, but later accepted the payment after Narendra Modi insisted.
Jhalmuri, a well-known street food in West Bengal, is a mixture made with puffed rice, onions, chillies and mustard oil, and is widely enjoyed across the region.
