A police officer died after collapsing due to a suspected heart attack while saluting the national flag during Republic Day celebrations in Maharashtra. The incident came to light after a video of the episode circulated widely on social media.
The deceased was identified as Mohan Jadhav, a Sub-Inspector of Police serving in the State Excise Department. The incident occurred during the Republic Day flag hoisting ceremony at Umarkhed town in Yavatmal district on Sunday. According to officials, Jadhav was standing in line with fellow officers and staff when the national flag was hoisted. He suddenly lost balance and collapsed on the ground, sustaining serious head injuries. Colleagues immediately rushed to his aid and shifted him to a private hospital in Umarkhed. Doctors who examined him declared that he had already died. Preliminary medical findings indicated that a sudden cardiac arrest was the cause of death.
